Used for reconnaisance and liason, the Daimler Scout Car was designed with frontal armor that could withstand the attack of light anti-tank weapons so as to lead a column of tanks into hostile territory, and then withdraw quickly in reverse once the fighting began. They first saw action in France and were widely-used during the desert campaigns in North Africa. The demand for Daimler Scout Cars was such that similar vehicles were issued, while over 6000 Daimlers were produced throughout the war. |
